Our Faux Wood Beams Hand Hewn Style replicate the artisanal craftsmanship of hand-worked wood, where each beam reflects the natural, irregular texture created by axes or specialized tools. This process preserves the distinctive marks of the craftsman.
Cad drawings
Send us your ceiling dimensions, a room sketch or an architect’s plan, and we will prepare a CAD drawing of your coffered ceiling system. The drawing shows the grid of coffers, the size and depth of each recess, the width of the beams between them, panel and joint positions, and the cut-outs for lights, vents and sprinklers. If you are weighing a modern coffered ceiling against a more traditional one, we can draw both layouts for the same room, so you see the coffered ceiling design before anything is made. You approve the drawing and the texture before production, so the panels are produced to the sizes you confirmed.
Application
A faux coffered ceiling adds depth and a finished look to a flat ceiling without the weight and labor of built-up carpentry. It is used in many places:
- Living rooms, dining rooms, home offices, libraries and primary bedrooms.
- Entry halls, stairwell landings and open-plan great rooms where the ceiling needs a focal point.
- Hotel lobbies, restaurants, banquet halls, offices and showrooms.
- Rooms with a central light fixture or medallion, where the coffers frame the centre of the room.
The panels are lightweight and foam based, so they are easier to lift to a ceiling than wood or plaster, and they do not rot or attract insects.
Installation and documents
Coffered ceiling installation is usually handled by one or two people with ordinary carpentry tools. It typically goes in four steps:
- Mark the centre of the room and the coffer grid on the ceiling from your layout drawing.
- Fix the panels to the ceiling joists or a flat, sound surface with construction adhesive and screws or finish nails.
- Fit the panels in the order shown on the drawing, keeping the seams tight and the grid square.
- Fill the seams and fastener holes, then paint to the colour you chose.
With every order we supply the CAD layout, a panel schedule and an installation guide with finishing notes. We can also check photos of your ceiling before you start.
Customization
Every coffered ceiling system is made to order, so the grid follows your room and not the other way round. You can choose:
- Coffer size, depth and the number of coffers across and along the room.
- Surface texture, such as sandblast, limestone, adobe, coral or sandpebble.
- Finish: painted in a single colour, or two tones to separate the beams from the recessed panels.
- Combination with crown molding, ceiling medallions or faux beams from our catalogue for a complete faux coffered ceiling.
Tell us the room size and the style you want, and we will suggest a layout.
Payment
The price of your coffered ceiling panels depends on the coffer layout, ceiling area, texture, finish and quantity. We accept PayPal, Visa and Mastercard. The payment schedule is written in your quote, and production begins after the CAD drawing is approved and the order is confirmed. Freight is quoted with the order and depends on the delivery address and the number of panels. Larger ceilings and commercial projects, such as hotels, restaurants and offices, are priced individually, so send us the square footage for a quotation.
Exchange and return
Coffered ceiling systems are made to order from your approved drawing, so they cannot be returned or exchanged for a change of mind. Please inspect the shipment on delivery, note any damage on the carrier’s paperwork and photograph it before unpacking. If a panel arrives damaged or does not match the approved drawing, contact us right away with photos and the order number, and we will repair or remake it. Check the first few panels against the layout before installing the whole ceiling.
