Echo and noise make restaurants, offices, studios and living rooms tiring to be in. Decorative Architectural Products makes custom acoustic panel systems that treat the room and, at the same time, look like part of the design.
How acoustic panels work
Acoustic panels do not block sound that goes through a wall. They absorb part of the sound that reflects around a room, which shortens the echo and makes speech and music clearer. This is why acoustic panels sound better in rooms with hard floors, glass and bare walls. For stopping noise between rooms you need mass and sealed construction, not panels alone. A panel system may be used on walls, as an acoustic panel system ceiling or in combination with beams, coffers and decorative trim, and it can be painted, wrapped or given a wood or relief finish.
Placement and quantity
Where should acoustic panels be placed in a room? Start at the first reflection points on the side walls and behind the speaker or the main seating, then add ceiling panels over the center of the room. How much acoustic panels do you need? As a rule of thumb, a treatment covering about 15 to 30 percent of the wall and ceiling area is a typical starting point for offices and restaurants, and the number depends on the room size, the use and the target. We can calculate the layout from your plans.
Our panel systems
We make decorative panel shells and frames from high-density EPS with a polyurea hard coat and combine them with an absorbing core selected for your performance and fire requirements. Panels are lightweight and are fixed with a simple rail or adhesive system, and custom shapes, relief and colors are possible.
