When a standard beam does not fit the room, a made-to-order one does. Decorative Architectural Products produces custom faux wood beams cut to your length, profile and finish, so the beam you draw is the beam that arrives.
What you can customize
Length, depth, width and profile are all set by your drawing. Choose a three-sided or four-sided box beam, a solid look, a tapered or arched beam for a vaulted ceiling, or a large faux wood beam that matches an existing timber. Surfaces can be rough-sawn, hand-hewn, smooth or sandblasted, with stains from light oak to dark walnut and weathered gray, and with white faux wood beams available for modern farmhouse rooms. Beams can be made with cutouts for lights and wiring and with end details for a post or a bracket.
How custom beams are made
Each beam is CNC-cut from high-density EPS foam and covered with a polyurea hard coat. This keeps a beam light enough to lift without rigging, and fixes the shape so it does not check, warp or crack. Long beams are made in lengths that fit your freight route and joined with a seam that disappears under the finish. Exterior beams for porches and pergolas get the same coating, which resists moisture and UV.
Cost and installation
The cost of faux wood beams depends on size, finish and quantity, and is usually lower than real timber once lifting and structural reinforcement are counted. Installation is simple: a wood nailer or blocking is fixed to the ceiling, and the beam is slid over it and fastened. We give you a layout drawing and an installation guide, and your builder keeps responsibility for the structure above.
