Inspired by real wood texture, the Grainy Style mantel evokes the charm of countryside living. Its natural look and feel bring grounded simplicity and authentic warmth to any space that celebrates the handcrafted.
Cad drawings
Send us your fireplace dimensions, a wall sketch or an architect’s plan, and we will prepare a CAD drawing of your faux wood fireplace mantel. The drawing shows the mantel length, projection and height, the texture, the position of the hanger board or mounting cleat, and the clearance above the firebox opening. If you are comparing a floating mantel with a mantel and surround, we can draw both on the same wall so you see the result before anything is made. You approve the drawing and the texture before production, so the mantel is made to the sizes you confirmed.
Application
A faux wood mantel gives a room the look of timber without the weight of a solid beam. It is used in many places:
- Above a fireplace in a living room, family room or lodge, as a mantel shelf over stone, brick or tile.
- Over a linear or thin fireplace, where a slim floating mantel suits a modern wall.
- As a decorative shelf over a faux fireplace, a media wall or an entertainment unit.
- In restaurants, hotel lobbies and showrooms where a wood mantel is wanted without heavy lifting.
The mantels are lightweight and foam based, so they are easier to carry and mount than solid wood, and they do not rot or attract insects.
Installation and documents
A foam mantel is light enough for two people and is usually mounted on a hanger board (mounting cleat) fixed to the wall. Floating mantel installation typically goes like this:
- Mark the mantel height and find the studs behind the wall finish.
- Fix the hanger board to the studs, level and centered over the fireplace.
- Slide the hollow mantel over the board and secure it with adhesive and screws or finish nails.
- Fill the holes and seams, then paint or stain the mantel to match the room.
Check the required clearance above the firebox with your fireplace manufacturer and local building rules before mounting. With every order we supply the CAD drawing and an installation guide.
Customization
Every mantel is made to order, so it fits your fireplace and not the other way round. You can choose:
- Projection of 6″, 8″, 10″ or 12″, height of 4″, 6″ or 8″, and length from 4′ to 8′, or any custom size.
- Texture, such as sanded or rough sawn, to suit a modern or a rustic room.
- Finish: painted, stained or color matched to your cabinets, beams or floor.
- Combination with faux wood beams or corbels from our catalog for a complete fireplace wall.
Tell us the width of your fireplace and the style you want, and we will suggest a mantel size.
Payment
The price of your faux wood mantel depends on length, projection, height, texture, finish and quantity. We accept PayPal, Visa and Mastercard. The payment schedule is written in your quote, and production begins after the CAD drawing is approved and the order is confirmed. Freight is quoted with the order and depends on the delivery address and the size of the mantel. Larger orders and commercial projects, such as hotels, restaurants and multi-unit buildings, are priced individually, so send us the number of mantels you need for a quotation.
Exchange and return
Faux wood mantels are made to order from your approved drawing, so they cannot be returned or exchanged for a change of mind. Please inspect the shipment on delivery, note any damage on the carrier’s paperwork and photograph it before unpacking. If a mantel arrives damaged or does not match the approved drawing, contact us right away with photos and the order number, and we will repair or remake it. Dry-fit the mantel on the hanger board before you glue or fasten it.

FAQ
- What is a faux wood mantel?
A lightweight mantel that reproduces a wood beam. Ours is foam with a polyurea hard coat and a wood-grain finish.
- Is a faux mantel safe for a real fireplace?
Foam is not non-combustible. Keep the clearance specified by the fireplace manufacturer and code, or use it with an electric or decorative fireplace.
- How is the mantel fixed?
With a hanger board or cleat fixed to the wall studs.
- Can I stain it?
Yes. It can be stained or painted.
- Can you make a custom width?
Yes. We cut to your wall and fireplace opening.
- What is the difference between a mantel and a surround?
The mantel is the shelf above the fireplace. The surround frames the opening.
- Can mantels have corbels?
Yes. We can add corbels or brackets under the shelf.
- What do you need to quote it?
Width, depth, fireplace type, finish and photos.
