Preguntas frecuentes
- Can I use faux stone column cladding for load-bearing structures?
Please note that our products are non-structural and serve only decorative functions. They are designed to be wrapped around load-bearing columns made of wood (e.g., faux stone column wraps 6×6”), steel (lally columns), or concrete.
- How realistic does faux stone cladding look?
Our faux stone columns are visually indistinguishable from natural stone from a typical viewing distance. The secret to this similarity lies in the multi-layer coloring and hand-finished relief, which allows us to achieve maximum naturalness.
- How are faux stone cladding items installed?
The column wraps are supplied in the form of split columns (two rounded halves or corner sections). They are glued together with polyurethane adhesive and additionally fixed with self-tapping screws in hidden places. We develop installation guides specifically for your team to eliminate errors.
- Can faux stone wraps be installed outdoors in cold climates?
Sure. The high-density EPS foam we use is resistant to frost and moisture. The material remains stable at extremely low sub-zero temperatures and does not crack or deform during freeze-thaw cycles. These exterior faux stone column wraps perform exceptionally well in harsh winter conditions.
- Does the faux stone surface require special care?
No, it is sufficient to wash PU column wraps periodically with water from a hose. No grouting or impregnation is required, as with natural stone.
- What sizes are available for your faux stone wraps?
Any options. We can manufacture column wraps of any diameter. We are not limited by our catalog and can produce column wraps of both typical and non-typical sizes. Standard sizes include faux stone column wraps 6×6” for residential porch posts and faux stone column wraps 12×12′‘ for larger commercial columns. In addition, we offer custom sizes for faux stone round column wraps, large posts, or unique architectural designs. Heights can vary up to 10 feet, 15 feet, and more.
- Can a mailbox or LED elements be integrated into your column wraps?
Yes. EPS is easy to cut and drill. We can provide anchors or channels for wiring even before the production stage.
- What is the warranty period?
We provide a limited warranty for the integrity of the material and coating. During this period, we will replace parts damaged by natural wear and tear and manufacture identical parts according to your references.
- How are your products delivered?
We use rigid, sealed packaging and work only with trusted carriers. The column wraps will arrive intact, no matter which state you are in.
- How much does it cost compared to stone?
The cost of the material may be comparable to high-quality faux stone, but the total cost of the project (material + delivery + installation) will be significantly lower due to savings on labor and equipment. The difference reaches, on average, 30-50% depending on the scale of the project. When compared to natural stone, the price difference can reach even 60-75% in favor of PU faux stone.

Revestimientos de columnas de imitación de piedra
Stone decorative elements have been in high demand for many years. Smooth textures with intricate veins and patterns add elegance to virtually any interior, from decorative columns to full facades. Now imagine that you can achieve the same dramatic effect without hiring a masonry crew and complex installation work. Faux stone column wraps come to the rescue of architects, designers, and contractors.
A surprisingly accurate imitation made of high-density polyurethane is as beautiful as natural stone and surpasses it in practicality. Faux stone column wraps, also called faux stone post covers, provide the answer to the eternal question: how to achieve timeless aesthetics without structural limitations, budget constraints, and installation complexities of traditional materials?

The realism of stone in polyurethane
Can faux stone column cladding look like real stone? We can confidently answer: yes! Material and manufacturing technology play a major role. Custom architectural foam is the core direction behind every Decorative Architectural Products category, and this line of faux stone columns is a direct expression of it: Decorative Architectural Products’ products are made of high-density polyurethane foam. It’s poured into molds cast directly from real stone samples: fieldstone walls, quarried limestone, weathered castle blocks, and hand-laid masonry.
This approach allows us to capture subtle variation in stone surface depth, the organic unevenness of mortar joints, and the way light plays across textured surfaces. This is why our column wraps look and feel like real stone — much like architectural cast stone, but without the weight — while the resulting elements weigh only a fraction of the weight of their stone inspiration.
Craftsmen hand-finish each piece, ensuring that the texture uniformity meets strict standards, and the color variations reflect the natural diversity of natural stone. This faux stone column cladding will satisfy the designer’s eye for detail and the contractor’s need for predictable, consistent materials.

Why faux stone column wraps are the best option for your project
Polyurethane column wraps outperform natural stone in modern construction in many ways.
Lightweight revolution
Consider the mathematics of traditional stone column cladding. An 8-foot column wrapped in natural stone adds 800 to 1,200 pounds to your structural load. That weight demands foundation analysis, possible reinforcement, and engineering consultations that inflate budgets and timelines. Exterior faux stone column wraps made from polyurethane typically weigh 80 to 120 pounds for the same dimensions (90% less).
This weight advantage cascades through every project phase: foundation work remains unchanged, saving weeks of site preparation; installation crews move materials safely without heavy equipment; shipping costs decrease dramatically for multi-location projects; renovation projects proceed without building system modifications. For designers working on historic renovations or buildings with load restrictions, this weight advantage turns impossible ideas into reality.
Material properties solving real-world problems
The closed-cell structure of high-density polyurethane foam creates a natural moisture barrier that natural stone cannot match. Water absorption, the main enemy of traditional stonework in freezing-thawing conditions, becomes irrelevant. Even faux stone porch column wraps that sit through decades of rain, freeze-thaw cycles, and coastal humidity hold up well — you won’t see the cracking, chipping, or decay that eventually shows up on natural stone.
There’s also the question of dimensional stability. Natural stone expands and contracts with the seasons, which over time stresses mortar joints and can even shift the structure underneath. Polyurethane barely moves with temperature, so columns hold their look and structural integrity from -40°F all the way up to 140°F. And because the material won’t splinter, crews can handle it — and fix mistakes — more safely than they could with stone.
Money matters: savings at every phase
When purchasing departments compare the best faux stone column wraps with natural stone wrapped columns and solid stone alternatives, the financial advantages become undeniable across multiple cost areas:
- Material costs. Polyurethane wraps typically cost 60-75% less than equivalent natural stone cladding.
- Installation labor. The lightweight nature of polyurethane reduces installation labor by 50-70%. What might require a four-person masonry crew working over several days becomes a two-person job completed in hours.
- Project timeline. Because installation goes so much faster than traditional stonework — often 3-5 times faster — projects wrap up sooner, which in turn trims transportation costs and lets commercial developments start generating revenue that much earlier.
- Maintenance expenses. Stone needs regular sealing, mortar inspections, and eventual repointing — a faux stone wrap just needs an occasional wash with mild detergent, which adds up to real savings over the life of a building.

Texture collection: how faux stone wraps capture the spirit of stone
The ability to replicate any stone texture allows for experimentation with designs without breaking the bank. And the specialists at Decorative Architectural Products are happy to help you with this. Here are some of the most popular faux stone textures from our catalog.
Slab style: desert sophistication for modern spaces
Faux stone foam column wraps 12×12 in slab-style texture (SL-FSP), evokes the layered sandstone formations of southwestern canyons. Its sun-warmed palette — cream through terracotta — brings desert and canyon landscapes to mind right away.
It works well in spaces that want a minimalist feel without coming across cold or sterile.
These include luxury resort lobbies, where natural materials create a connection with the surrounding desert or coastline; spa entrances, which call for a calming, earthy aesthetic; and spacious living rooms in modern homes, where organic textures and faux stone pillars balance sleek finishes.
Assol-style: European elegance with artisan character
The mixed-stone pattern of the Assol-style column wraps (AS-FSP) captures centuries of masonry tradition — stones of different sizes and shapes set together the way you’d see on a Tuscan farmhouse or in a Provencal village. It’s a solid pick for designers working on transitional projects who want an artificial stone column wrap that doesn’t feel too modern or too rustic. Color variations within the texture allow customization from warm Mediterranean tones to cooler Northern European palettes.
It tends to work well for boutique hotels aiming for genuine European character, and for wine bars and restaurants built around artisan craftsmanship. On the residential side, it suits traditional neighborhoods that call for period-appropriate detail, as well as mixed-use developments that blend historical context with modern function.

Rubble-style: rustic warmth for casual elegance
The Rubble texture (RU-FSP) mimics the fieldstone found in historic barns, country estates, and mountain lodges. The uneven placement of the stones and varying joint widths create an organic, casual look for structures crafted from local materials by skilled artisans.
Faux stone column foam wraps 6×6 in Rubble-style work beautifully for residential porch pillars and porch applications, such as when a contractor updates worn wood support columns without removing the existing post, where welcoming, comfortable aesthetics matter most. The texture’s informality makes larger spaces feel intimate. On the commercial side, it shows up in farm-to-table restaurants, ski lodges, and mountain resorts built around natural materials, in craft breweries and distilleries that want that artisan credibility, and in outdoor entertainment venues that need something weather-resistant.
Rustic Style: Medieval drama for statement spaces
Large, irregularly shaped stone blocks and deep, shadowed mortar joints give this texture the look of a castle wall or an old fortification. It’s a bold choice — the kind of texture that ends up anchoring the whole design around it rather than blending in.
Because of its scale, Rustic style (RS-FSP) works best where the columns and outdoor stone pillars are meant to be noticed, not just blend into the background. Themed restaurants going for a medieval feel, wine cellars aiming for an Old World mood, immersive entertainment venues, and homes built around expressive architecture all tend to reach for this texture.
Plateau-style: modern refinement with natural warmth
Here the stones sit in a more uniform arrangement with clean lines. The Plateau faux stone column cladding (PS-FSP) warms up a room without fighting a minimalist interior — useful in professional spaces where you want coziness instead of sterility.
We see it used in corporate lobbies, where entrance columns get pillar covers that keep things professional but still approachable; in contemporary hotel projects that want refined organic touches; in high-end retail spaces building a premium brand perception; and in contemporary homes where clean design meets natural materials.

Why Decorative Architectural Products: precision for custom designs
Architectural projects worth talking about rarely fit standard dimensions — that’s just how it goes with historic renovations, custom homes, and signature commercial buildings, where sizing has to match what’s already there or hit a specific design intent. Decorative Architectural Products specializes in custom architectural fabrication and manufacturing, running the largest foam production facility in Jacksonville with a range of foam processing technologies built to handle whatever a client’s project throws at us.
Every faux stone column wrap starts the same way: with measurements and a conversation. Send our team references showing your design vision, or just describe what you’re picturing — “a living room in a Medieval style,” say, or “a patio with weathered faux stone columns.” From there, our specialists suggest a style and wrap sizes that match the round or square column dimensions you’ve planned, put together a 3D visualization and an estimate, and move into production once you sign off.
